Long Time, No Talk

Long Time, No Talk

I can't remember the last time I sent a newsletter...Probably when I announced the release of my last book? But I really don't remember the last time I sent a newsletter without a book announcement. Which is a shame, because these days, newsletters are the only way I talk to you guys.

So I thought it was high time that I restart the newsletter circuit and actually clue you in on what's happening these days. Shall we begin?

New Projects, Old Flames

I did mention this on Instagram (I think that's what the app is called. It's been so long since I visited that faraway platform that I can't quite remember what it looks like), but I'm currently doing a bit of a revisit of my old work. Starting with the OG. I'm reading Legends of Avalon aloud on Patreon every week (mostly. The last few weeks have been a little busy). Once I'm finished with it, I'll move on to The Grinch Next Door, Stale-Mate and so on and so forth until I get through my whole catalog.

It's been fun, but a little humbling too. I'm proud to say that I'm a better writer than I was four years ago. I'm annoyed to say that it makes my inner perfectionist a little crazy to see things in writing that I'd do differently now. Little Miss Perfect would love for everything to be top tier. A dumb goal considering that the last thing will always be subpar compared to the current thing. At least for me.

Which brings me to the fun stuff.

I'm working on something new. And I don't mean the next installment in a pre-existing series. I mean something new new. I'm not sure how much I should tell you...so I'll just tell you everything because I can't keep a secret. It's the first book in a trilogy, an urban fantasy, very snarky, very honest, romantic, a little bit Mission Impossible (as per usual), and it includes werewolves, vampires, fae, elves, sprites, mages and a bunch of other creatures.

When I tell you I'm excited about this book, I mean it. This is the most fun I've had writing in a very long time. However, I'm currently two chapters into draft two and terrified that the perfectionist I mentioned earlier is going to throw a fit at any moment. So please pray for me and my poor creative spirit as she tries to turn the perfectionist into a friend instead of an enemy.

What's New? Everything.

Hopefully, I'll be sharing more details soon, along with covers and titles and all the fun stuff. But for now, I'll share some other things.

  • Current show: The Originals (I'll admit, this one is a little rough for me. I'm a diehard TVD fan, but TO is quite a bit darker than TVD, so idk if I'll ever rewatch after I complete it. Time will tell)
  • Current food obsession: chips and sour cream (I know I'm three decades late to the party, but I just started doing this and it's insane)
  • Current fixation: whether or not Taylor will announce Debut TV on Friday and whether my bank account can handle the pre-orders
  • Current hobby: Legos. I keep building the few sets I have and taking them apart so I can start again. Why Lego so esspensive??

Now it's your turn! What are your current obsessions? Do we have any in common?

I hope you're all doing well and that you enjoy these newsletters, because I plan for there to be a lot more of them 🫶🏻
